Miasto widmo to opuszczona wioska, miasteczko ewentualnie miasto. Czesto miasto staje sie "miastem widmem", poniewaz dzialalnosc gospodarcza zwiazana z miastem wygasla, naturalne zrodlo zasobow wyczerpalo sie. Kleski zywiolowe, wojna to inne z przykladowych przyczyn. Termin "Miasto widmo" rowniez uzywany jest w odniesieniu do miast, ktore sa wciaz zaludnione, ale liczba ludnosci jest zdecydowanie nizsza niz dawniej.
Miasta widma kojarza mi sie ze Stanami Zjednoczonymi, dzikim zachodem i goraczka zlota. Tymczasem jest wiele takich miejsc w innych rejonach swiata.

Let's start with a definition of a ghost town
A ghost town is an abandoned village, town or city.
A town often becomes a ghost town because the economic activity that
supported it has failed, or due to natural or human-caused disasters or war . The term is sometimes used to refer to cities, towns,
and neighborhoods which are still populated, but significantly less so
than in years past.
When I say ghost town I think automatically about the United States, wild west and the gold rush but there are plenty of such places all around the world.

To japonskie miasto gornicze w latach 1887 - 1974. Kiedys znane z posiadania najwyzszej gestosci zaludnienia (w roku 1959: 83,500 mieszkancow przypadalo na kilometr kwadratowy), wyspa zostala opuszczona, gdy kopalnie wegla ulegly likwidacji.

world's highest population density (in 1959: 83,500 people per square
kilometer), the island was abandoned when the coal mines were closed
down.
2. Francuskie miasteczko Oradour-sur-Glane/ French town Oradour-sur-Glane
W Oradour-sur-Glane 10 czerwca 1944 roku oddział niemieckich wojsk Waffen-SS wymordował niemal całą ludność. Przeżyła tylko jedna kobieta, pięciu mężczyzn oraz dziecko.
The French town Oradour-sur-Glane, 10th of June
1944 occupying German Waffen-SS troops murdered almost entire population. Only 7 people survived (one women, five men and one child)
3. Craco we Wloszech/ Craco in Italy
Wyludnione w 20 wieku, z powodu trzesien ziemi i emigracji/ It was depopulated in the middle of the 20th century, due to earthquakes and emigration.
4. Polskie miasteczko Grodek/Kamino/ A polish town Grodek/ Klomino
Polozone w polnocno-zachodniej czesci kraju. Zostało zbudowane dla radzieckich zolnierzy i ich rodzin. Calkowicie porzucone w 1992 po upadku ZSRR. Dzisiaj zyje tam tylko kilka rodzin.

was built for Soviet soldiers and their families. It was completely abandoned in 1992 after the collapse of
the USSR. Only a few families live there now.

6. San Zhi na Tajwanie/ San Zhi Taiwan
Zaprojektowane, jako osrodek wypoczynkowy. Nikt tu jednak nie wypoczywa. Ludzie omijają to miejsce i twierdza, ze jest nawiedzone przez tych,
ktorzy zmarli podczas budowy kompleksu.
Designed as a leisure centre but nobody rest here. People are avoiding this place and say that it is cursed because of the people that died during construction of the complex.
